Ashbourne is a 30 minute drive from Croft Bungalow and is an old historical market town. Known as the gateway to Dovedale, and home to the shrove tuesday football match (which has very little resemblence to the modern game), Ashbourne sits at the start of the Tissington trail. Bakewell is a 10 minute drive from Croft Bungalow and our nearest town. It is home to Bakewell market – a traditional agricultural market that has been going since 1330. Thats the year not the time 🙂 Its one of the oldest still trading markets in the UK. Bakewell is also home to the world famous Bakewell pudding – which can be purchased from the Bakewell pudding shop on the highstreet.
Buxton is a 30 minute drive from Croft Bungalow – and this historical spa town is home to Buxton water, and Buxton opera house. It has an open air market and a large landscaped park and ornamental gardens, and is home to Georgian and Victorian architecture including the very recently refurbished Crescent hotel and spa. https://www.visitbuxton.co.uk/
Belper (a 30 minute drive from Croft Bungalow) is a traditional country market town and won ‘Great British high street award’ in 2019.
