We provide a bath towel and hand towel for each guest. We also provide tea towels and all bedding. Extra towels and extra bedding are available on request.
Assistance dogs are welcome and at no extra cost – and small well behaved dogs are sometimes allowed but strictly by prior arrangement only please. We do ask for a £20 surcharge for pre-agreed dogs as we give the bungalow an extra deep clean after doggie guests (a lot of our guests are hyper-allergenic).
Unfortunately Croft Bungalow is not suitable for all dogs. We cannot cater for large or lively dogs. We have low or non-existent boundaries with other properties around us and are adjacent to open fields with lambs and sheep in them, so when doggie guests do stay we need to be very strict with rules around keeping them on leads outside. Unfortunately the garden is really not doggie friendly.
There are plenty of dog walks near us though. We do have guests that stay with their dogs by prior arrangement so please contact us to discuss and we can talk through prior to booking. If that hasn’t put you off let’s have a call and talk through. Our number is 01629 650979
We love a Bedroom challenge..!
And we get plenty. With one double room, one twin room & a pull down settee just how many ways can there be to actually configure the bedrooms?
We take up to 4 guests routinely – very occasionally we are persuaded to take more – but in special circumstances and by prior arrangement only please. We have to make provision.
We are always being asked for new configurations and we have most bases covered now by providing the following:
1) Double room + Electric profile bed in the single room – this is the default configuration.
2) Twin room + Electric profile bed in the single room
3) Mixed room – Electric profile bed + single bed in double room & single bed in single room. (popular with couples where one requires the hoist and they want the beds pushed together, or where a guest who uses a hoist and carer need to share a room – beds set up as twin beds)
4) Any of the above with double bed/pull down settee in the lounge (popular with two couples, couples with carers or family with older children)
5) Any of the above with extra fold away camp bed in the single room. (often requested by families where one child requires the electric bed and cot sides and they wish to put a second child in the same room to liberate the lounge in the evenings for grown ups, or where there are 3 carers with a guest and 1 needs to be present in the room with the guest. The camp bed can be quickly folded away to give wheelchair access)
6) When regular guests turned up last year they caught us out by having an extra person. A very very small extra person. So a quick dash to Argos saved the day and we now have a travel cot available too.
Yes
Croft Bungalow has private parking right outside the bungalow with plenty of room to unload. There is a 30 metre drive from the road, so guests need to be ok to reverse one way as well as drive the other way. We provide details of the best way depending on what side you unload on – in our joining instructions.
The Drive is 30 metres long, and 2.75 metres ( 9 feet) wide.
There is limited room to turn round so guests need to be prepared to reverse in and drive out (our recommended approach) some guests with smaller cars do turn round at the bottom – but we feel it safer to advise guests that they will need to reverse one way
There are two pubs in the village. The Red Lion is 50 metres from the top of the drive, and the Druid inn is a little bit further being a full 100metres away. Both pubs do amazing food and serve real ales. The Red Lion is also a micro-brewery and they make their own ales. Booking for both pubs is strongly recommended – they do book up at busy periods. Its worth booking well in advance.
The nearest shops are at Bakewell. For food/groceries there is a co-op extra at the co-op garage (this is also the nearest petrol station) on the edge of Bakewell as you approach, and also a full co-op in town. An Aldi just outside Bakewell. In Bakewell town centre there are a variety of shops ranging from clothing to outdoor equipment to souvenirs to regular high street stops and of course not forgetting the Bakewell pudding shop. Other shops within 20 minutes include Darley Dale, Matlock, Wirksworth, and slightly further away are Buxton and Chesterfield.
Oh yes….. they are very welcome to day visit. Why not have a family bbq in the garden? We get a LOT of guests staying for this reason and family day visitors are very very welcome. We are happy for them to stay over too as long as its pre-arranged with us, numbers dont exceed 4 extra guests, and there are no extra dogs we didn’t know about. Let us know when you book.
Its a fully equipped kitchen. White goods are Fridge/Freezer, Washing machine, dish washer, Microwave, Oven, 4 ring hob, grill, kettle, toaster.
It has a full compliment of pots and pans, glasses, plates, cutlery etc.
If there is anything at all you specifically would like please ask and we will confirm or possibly get it if we think that other guests will use it too.

We do have guests who require supplemental oxygen and we are quite used to getting oxygen deliveries in advance. in fact we now have a special shed just for storing them – so it’s not a problem. just let us know when you book.
Nothing.
All equipment is covered in the cost of the rental for your break. We dont charge people who need extra help to hire equipment we already have.
Let us know in advance and we will give you details of the local mobility shops that can provide one.
The garden is landscaped with wheelchairs and scooters in mind. There are also two village pubs just 50 and 100 metres away. The village is on a slight slope (getting steeper as you leave the village) so longer wheelchair walks in the village are more challenging – but there are lots of flat wheelchair country walks nearby just as short drive away. We provide lots of details in our information book.
Both pubs are very keen to welcome guests with access needs (we strongly advise booking and stating your needs as they are more than happy to reserve tables in the most accessible place). Both pubs have portable ramps and level access areas once inside. Neither of the pubs have accessible toilets
There are literally hundreds of great days out at tourist attractions, great market towns to explore, and lots of adventure trails and walking all over the Peak District. We provide some information with our booking confirmation email to help guests plan their stay – but there are lots of online resources too. If you have any specific questions – then you cant beat local knowledge so please just ask us through our contact page
